Varnishes are the solutions of silicon organic resins in organic solvents. In Europe and the rest of the world the term “varnish” is not used, and the term "resin" is used instead.
The main applications of silicon organic varnishes are:
1. Primarily used as binder in production of heat resistant enamels used for coating various metal and other surfaces.
2. Electrical insulating resins for cabling, winding of motors class H.
The surfaces coated with resins can be exposed to operating temperatures up to +180oС , and severe temperature conditions of mines, airplanes, submarines.
The disadvantages of using varnishes for this application are:
- water evaporation at drying thus resulting to pores on the treated surface;
- high temperature of drying (exceeding 200oС), so increased consumption of electric energy resources;
- contains solvent;
- high cost (compared with similar materials)
For this application the company Hungarian Silicones produces varnishes SRE 15, SRE 16, SRE 17 and SRE 21.
3.Façade paints and coatings. There are two applications:
1. As base for pure silicone façade paints, e.g. varnish SRE 21 can be a perfect base for these paints 2. As silicone additives to silicon organic coatings such as GF and PF. The use of these silicone additives contribute to significant resistance to increased operating temperatures and atmospheric conditions.
4.Water repellents.
Silicone resins without pigments retain the appearance, provide water and atmospheric resistance. The varnish SRH 8 can be used for this purpose.
Abroad silicon organic water repellents are used also to increase weather resistance of facades of unique public buildings, sculptures, monuments of history and culture.
For example, marble facades of Milan cathedral are treated with silicone products. In Germany all facades of marble, limestone and brick are treated with silicon organic resins. In Czech the walls of buildings decorated with plaster with graffiti (color with pattern) are protected with silicon organic water repellents. In Poland silicone liquids are used for protection of brick buildings. In Great Britain walls are treated with silicone rubber in the organic solvent. In addition to pore formation, gas generating and air-entraining additives increase air permeability and frost resistance of concrete and mortars, reduce corrosion of steel.
Competitive advantages of our resins.
It is important to remember - all silicone resins have both heat resistance and insulating properties. And silicone resins have both advantages and disadvantages compared to other products:
+ exclusive (very strong), heat-resistant and insulating properties
+ a distinct advantage over simple enamels PF and GF
+ radiation resistance
+ acid resistance
+ weather resistance
- higher cost, compared to other materials.
One of the main advantages of our resins is high condensation expressed by viscosity. In other words, high viscosity parameters make possible the dilution with a large amount of organic solvent to obtain the enamel in required working condition, accordingly increasing the amount of the finished product. Therefore, you receive more product at the same cost.
